In a bunch of trouble. In trying to move PSE14 photos to a new disk I keep getting the error message
"Error encountered while restoring catalog. It is recommended that you contact your disc drive manufacturer and upgrade to the latest available firmware for you specific disc drive before trying again."
I have tried three different hard drives and keep getting the same message. The 3 drives are WD Black SATA Dec 2016, a Seagate Mobile HDD SMR 1TB manufactured January 3, 2018 and an drive about 5 years old.
Same error message on all the drives.
I am unable to restore and this is a BIG problem.
Help!
Dennis
Couple of weeks later;
I was successful in getting through to a tech. We spent an hour on the issue and proved up that Photoshop Elements is not able to see the *.tly file that is on the hard disk.
The index and photos had been backed up and they are clearly on my drive, but Photoshop Elements 14 will not show the backup file in the restore window. Weird
The tech's resolution was to refer the case to the "experts" that are responsible for questions in the Forum.Waiting to here.
I really don't understand how a major piece of software having back up and restore issues. Not good. I also note that others have posted with the same issue and no response from Adobe.
We shall see.

I found the solution !
What is occurring is that the restore routine within PSE14 is not recognizing the backup.tly file. There is a flag, or marker somewhere in the file that is keeping PSE from recognizing it.
Work around is to ZIP backup.tly and then UNZIP the file. That removes the marker and PSE now will see the file.
This is a problem that has been brought up multiple times in the forums. Abode has never answered one of the posts. Not sure why they think that a dependable backup and restore commands are not worthy of their attention, but in my world this flaw is so large as to make me seek photo software somewhere else.
Goodbye Photoshop. You have stung me too badly to hang around.
