Save slide show as pdf in Elements 14

New Here ,
Mar 18, 2017 Mar 18, 2017

Can I save a slide show as pdf with Elements 14?  I have done this in the past - has this feature been removed?  It seems I can only save (annoyingly) in 'movie' format.

Thanks for the help.

Bill,

I am afraid you won't find a satisfactory solution in Elements to output a multipage pdf with captions.

The best you could do would be to use one of the many pdf virtual printers on the market, like Microsoft Print to pdf (included in Windows 10).

- You select your items in the organizer,

- you use the 'Print' dialog, setting the printer as 'Microsoft Print to pdf', clicking on the 'More options' of the print dialog, then clicking the 'include captions' check mark.

The problem is that you have

Select your files, and in the right panel (Create and share), choose 'Share'. The slideshow pdf option is the last one.

It appears that the only selection is to mail the pdf.  I want to save it to my hard disk - is there a way to do this?

Thanks.

Hi,

From the Share dropdown on top right select PDF Slideshow. Complete the workflow and you'll be directed to your e-mail client with the PDF slideshow as an attachment. You can save that attachment to your hard disk too.a.png

Hi again,

My goal is to create a slide show that includes the captions I added in

Elements Organizer. They don't seem to come with the pdf file. The video

slide shows are much to large. Is there a way I can have the pdf slides

appear with the embedded captions as they do on the video slide show?

Thanks

Bill

Hi again,

I just searched my library (in Adobe Elements 14) and I found several pdfs

that I made with prior versions of Elements that do have captions embedded

in each picture/slide of the pdf 'slide show'. At least now I don't feel

like I'm losing my mind. While I don't recall exactly how I created these,

I'm almost certain it was through the 'Create' (not the 'Share') menu. It

is apparent to me that this has been de-featured - probably inadvertently,

but, nonetheless, this is functionality that I very much would like to have

restored. The captions look the same as they do in the .mp4 slide show

version that I can create with v14, that is, font size, style and color of

my choosing and embedded within the frame of the picture (not underneath).

The pdfs files are much, much smaller than the mp4s, AND, I can manually

move back and forth at my own speed instead of having to watch the .mp4

slide show. The slide show is good for unattended background, but not good

for real-time sharing of an album from my phone or iPad.

Can you confirm that this functionality was removed and any chance it could

be restored - or is it included in a more recent version of Elements?

Thanks.

Bill

Yes, this feature has been removed. Worse, support for the pdf format has been also removed from the organizer (the editor can still support opening pdf files and save in 'photoshop/pdf' format only).

This change required a lot of subsidiary changes, so the removal was a big task, certainly not 'inadvertently'.
