Hi,
Is it possible to save files over 2GB in ELEMENTS? The info that I receive when searching online applies to Photoshop but not ELEMENTS. I am using PSE 12.
Thanks!

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond.
I design alphabet photography prints and use LOTS of layers.
Example: A print designed with a name that has 11 letters would have approximately 858 layers (26 letters in the alphabet with 3 different letter options per alphabet).
Would you be able to offer step-by-step instructions on what I should do....if it is even possible to do this? I store files in Dropbox.
If not I understand. Thanks again!
Kelly

You can save your file as a TIFF which supports up to 4 gb in size.

If your looking at the Document Size in photoshop elements, that's just an estimate.
Have you actually tried saving the file(s) as PSD or TIFF?

In the TIFF Options you could try Zip compression and Zip layer compression.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond!
I received the following message when trying to save zip file:
"Zip compression is not supported in older TIFF readers, and saving the file may take more time"
Would you know if there is a way to update a TIFF reader?

If your just going to use the TIFF file in photoshop elements that other stuff doesn't matter, since elements will reopen the file.
Besides most other software other than adobe applications don't support layered TIFF files, so if you need to open the file in other applications or just want a preview to quickly view, you can save a flattened version of TIFF without compression.

Hi Jeff,
I was able to save a large TIFF file but it took 20 minutes. It is very time consuming to open the file too.
Would you possibly have a suggestion on how to reduce the time?
Thanks again!

That is highly dependent on your hardware, especially amount of available RAM and processor speed.
If you don't want to open the huge layered file to do layer edits, I would recommend saving a flattened 'version set', even in low compression jpeg (8 to 10 settings). That version would work as a high resolution 'preview' for extremely fast browsing in the organizer and even to print without visible quality loss. It could be helpfull to pinpoint several edits you could apply in a single session before saving the layered version.
