Selecting an image to print from Photoshop Elements 14

I have a recurring problem when printing from PE14. I also used to experience it with PE13.

Using Windows 10 (Pro, 64 bit), printing to Canon Pixma printers. Also experienced same problem with Windows 7 Pro.

I have say 3 images open in the Editor, all of which I intend to edit and then print as individual prints, one at a time. Call them Image 1, Image 2 and Image 3.

All 3 images show in the Photo Bin, Image 2 is selected in the Photo Bin and is the image currently selected in the Editor. Having edited Image 2, I now wish to print it.

When I click File / Print, the Print dialogue box comes up on-screen. But the image selected to print is Image 3. Image 1 and Image 2 do not show in the Print Dialogue Box.

I don't want to click the  "+Add"  button, as this will load the Organizer which I don't use. (It will take forever to load and I can only stop it by using CTRL ALT DEL, which closes PE15. I don't use the Organizer because it seemingly won't display NEF and TIFF files, which is what I use.)

Variations on this problem include:

All 3 images will show in the left-hand side of the Print Dialogue box but, again, the wrong one will be selected. The only way I have been able to deal with this is by clicking the  "-Remove" button. But, if I then wish to print the image I've removed, how do I get it back?

Or, I will somehow manage to select the image I want within the Print dialogue box, but then a different one will be printed.

In short, the Print dialogue box seems to take a flexible approach as to which images to load and which image to print. I am fed up of wasting paper by having the wrong image printed.

I was going to include a screen-shot with this question but this doesn't seem to be possible.

Suggest that you reset preferences to default, as that may fix it.

Go to Edit>Preferences>General

First problem: be sure to move the files to print to the left of the photo bin.

Second problem: which is the Nikon camera model producing the NEFs?
