There are multiples situation that you might get the Error: "Unable to validate serial number" the above provided link has all the solution for it.
here is one example : Serial numbers are numeric. Do not enter alphabetic characters. if you use alphabetic characters the error will pop up "Unable to validate serial number"

If you are getting the same error after processing all then you will need to check the resolution from Adobe forum as expert are available there you can upload your issue they will help you with the resolution as they support the older version.

This worked for me! Previously I had "chatted" with two agents and gone round and round in circles with them. They were trying to tell me I could only have it on one computer, etc. etc. You must simply ask for the activation to be reset. Thanks!
