Shutter Count

New Here ,
Jul 24, 2016 Jul 24, 2016

I am trying to find the shutter count using Photoshop Elements 14. My previous version 11 provided this information at File\File Info...\Advanced\Schema\aux: Image Number, but version 14 doesn't seem to have the Advanced tab. Can anyone tell me where to find the shutter count in version 14? Thank you!

Open the file, and go to file info in the file menu and select the raw tab. enter "imagenumber" in the search:

This is a new camera for me, so it only has 7 exposures. This is also Photoshop, but elements are and same.

What type of  camera do you have? Canon's shutter counts don't show up.

I believe Canons don't record their shutter count, at least, they don't in the EXIF data.

If you really want the shutter count from a Canon camera, you'll have to use 3rd party software which claims to obtain the shutter count via an undocumented function.

Thanks Chuck,

It tells me that I have used the shutter just over 5000 times.

This seems very low to me.

I specialise in birds in flight and shoot 500 or so images in one session. The camera is about 8 months old and I have had many sessions!!!

Does the count record both RAW and JPG, Sometimes I shoot RAW only, others jpg only and sometimes a combination of both.

I believe that it should count a raw and jpg as only one.

Hi Chuck,

My concern is, since the route is through the "RAW Data" menu, does it also count images shot only using the jpg format?

It will count one shutter click. Doesn't matter the file type, but only one click if it's set to raw and jpg. That is file processing and not shutter clicks.

For Sony a7ii there doesn't appear to be any "imagen" or imagenumber within the Raw data, does this sound correct?
