Software not using correct font size

Community Beginner ,
May 11, 2017 May 11, 2017

I have  been thrown here for help on my issue. Apparently because I don't have the latest and greatest version I cannot get chat support.  Which is unfair to me as a customer.

Anyway, my software is not using the proper point size that I pick when adding text to my project.  For example if I choose 72 it only uses about an 8 point size font.  I have Photoshop Elements.

Suggest that you reset the Type tool. You do not specify which version of PSE that you use.

In the older versions, look for a little arrow, top left, on the tool's option bar.

On the more recent versions look for a box with lines in it on the bottom right on the option bar.

Click to reset

Hi raggsydoll,

Thanks for posting in Adobe forums.

I understand you are facing issue with "Text Tool" in Adobe Photoshop Elements.

Could you please try the following steps:

Firstly,

- Open Photoshop Elements

- Click "Edit"

- Click "Preferences"

- Click "General"

- Click " Reset preferences on the next launch"

- Re-open the program & test "Text Tool" again.

If this doesn't help you then secondly,

- Select "Text Tool" from the toolbox.

- Click the Reset_Tool_2.PNG  to open the menu in Tool Options.

- Click "Reset Tool" or "Reset All Tools"  Reset_Tool_1.PNG

- Restart Adobe Photoshop Elements & test "Text Tool" again.

Hope this works for you.

Thanks

Regards

Dhananjay

With very old versions like yours, the chat support is not the best way to get help. Especially if it's just a need for a tutorial about text sizes.

Anyway, my software is not using the proper point size that I pick when adding text to my project.  For example if I choose 72 it only uses about an 8 point size font.  I have Photoshop Elements.

How do you know? Did you print your image at the size in in/cm set in your image size?

Tips:

- font size in points has no meaning for displaying your images on screen, only relative to the image size in in/cm.

- If the displayed font seems too small relative to your whole image, you are not limited to 72, you can enter manually any size, 144 or more...
