Hi, I currently use elements 14. I get the dreaded spinning wheel on every action. What are the chances the same will happen if i buy 2021?

If you want to try and get your copy of Photoshop Elements 14 working properly again, then we'll need some more information to help you out, such as your operating system, and your computer specifications. You can find this information by opening up the Photoshop Elements Editor, then go to Help > System Info. Copy the first few lines of the details in the System Info dialog window and then paste them into your reply on this Support Community. Make sure you don't paste anything more than the first few lines, so something like this:

Thanks for posting your system specs.
There were a number of users who had difficulties running Adobe Photoshop Elements on Mac OS 10.14 (Mojave). Most issues appeared to be resolved by following the instructions in this Adobe Knowledge Base article:
Adobe Photoshop Elements freezes in Mac Mojave
The article focuses on Photoshop Elements 2019, so the file locations may be different for Photoshop Elements 14 on your Mac, but you should get the general idea and then be able to dig around and find the exact file locations if they do differ.
A few users also had success by resetting their PRAM:
Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac
