I am having an issue with the text feature in my 2024 PS Elements that I do not recall ever having with my previous versions of Elements. I called tech support but the agent was not helpful at all and his instructions did nothing to fix what I percieve as a possible bug.
When adding text the result is awful. I want to use 9pt size type but the issue happens to some degree no matter what size the type or the font itself. Letters too close to another, edges not sharp, basically lots of issues. I was told to play with tracking and leading edge functions but this sometimes help some words but not others.
i was then told to try to save the file and export in pdf. This helps minimally and it is very hit or miss. In addition this is anniying in that I cannot edit the text once reimported back into Elements.
I have even tried to create the text in Acrobat and import it into Elements but it still isn't sharp enough. Again editing issues are at play with this method.
Has anyone else noticed similar issues after upgrading to 2024?

@Moon52 Hi , I've moved your post from the Photoshop forum to the Photoshop Elements forum where you are more likely to get help with your issue.
One generic comment though. Points are 1/72 inch so 9 points is 9/72 inch. How that displays in your image will depend on how many pixels you have allocated to an inch i.e. the ppi resolution of the document. As an example if your document is made with 300 ppi then 9 point text has 37 vertical pixels to display its height. However if your document has 72ppi then 9 point text ony has 9 vertical pixels to display its height.

Thank you very much. Lol, I found the appropriate section with the help of a previous reply but I am grateful for doing the move.
As to the additional information you provided it is somewhat confusing to me. This is why I love Elements so much...It takes very little brain power to accomplish what I need to do. My previous versions of Elements (and I have had many) never had this text issue. Hope the Elements forum will provide answers and actions I can handle.
Again, I appreciate you.

What version of macOS are you using?
What size is the document your adding the text to?
Could you post a screenshot(s) to show the issue?

Hello.
I am using Mac OS Sonoma 14.3.1. I was assured a couple of days ago by Adobe that this new version of PS Elements 2024 would be compatible because I had already had compatibility issues with the program when it first came out. I had to uninstall it and roll back my OS, it was a mess.
The document I am trying to work with is 11 inches x 8.5 inches although the space I am trying to place the text is smaller. (Never an issue in prior PS Elements versions). I have even prepared a new document/file and typed the text on it. A full 11 inch x 8.5 inch space. And the issue is with any font. Some words are ok, others are not. One of the most annoying things is it doesn't even matter what font.

A couple of screenshots would be of further help:
Can you post a screenshot of the File>New>Blank File settings your entering for the 11 inches x 8.5 inches document?
Post a screenshot of the Type Tool tool options located at the bottom of the photoshop elements interface?

With the existing document that has the bad type, what does it say when you go to Image>Mode?

Well, not ALL is perfect. Grateful for the improvement though. I still have PS Elements 2022 and I think I have discovered some issues there as well I never noticed. All my problem's probably stem from the size of the font I need to use for this particular project. I really appreciate the help though.

Hi
Corrupt Language in Elements 2025.
I just installed Elements 2025.
Type problem. My Cloud and Elements 2025 are set to English. When typing, Latin comes up as the language.
I checked with the Google Translator and the Latin text does not translate with what I am typing.
SYSTEM is corrupt.
I am trying to contact Adobe now. What a waste of my time.

Elements 2025
I have attached a Screen Shot of the Latin Text. I did not type anything. As I opened the text box the image appeared.
I have tried several other type text with the same results. My Cloud and Elements are set to English.
Another person mentioned the same problem with Elements 2024. The same Latin text appeared.
Thank you

Lorem Ipsum: it's placeholder text. it's simply put there to show you what whatever, typically text boxes, look like with some text in them. You can turn it off (see the screenshot at the bottom of this post.)
It is widely believed that the history of Lorem Ipsum originates with Cicero in the 1st Century BC and his text De Finibus bonorum et malorum. This philosophical work, also known as On the Ends of Good and Evil, was split into five books. The Lorem Ipsum we know today is derived from parts of the first book Liber Primus and its discussion on hedonism, the words of which had been altered, added and removed to make it nonsensical and improper Latin. It is not known exactly when the text gained its current traditional form. However references to the phrase "lorem ipsum" can be found in the 1914 Loeb Classical Library Edition of the De Finibus in sections 32 and 33.
It was in this edition of the De Finibus that H. Rackman translated the text. The following excerpt is taken from section 32:
"qui dolorem ipsum, quia dolor sit amet consectetur adipisci velit, sed quia non numquam eius modi tempora incidunt, ut labore et dolore magnam aliquam quaerat voluptatem".
This is recognisable, in part, as today's standard Lorem Ipsum and was translated into:
"Nor again is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain, but occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure him some great pleasure".
Advancing to the 1960s, Lorem Ipsum was made popular by typeface manufacturer Letraset, who used it in their advertising campaigns. Letraset offered pages of Lorem Ipsum as rub down transfer sheets, which were widely used in the pre-computer era for layouts. These transfer pages, known as Letraset Body Type, were featured in the company's advertising and their popular catalogue.
Lorem Ipsum was reintroduced in the 1980s by the Aldus Corporation, a company that developed Desktop Publishing Software. Their most well known product PageMaker came with pre-installed graphics and word-processing templates containing a version of the faux latin language.

I ausume most users do not create a text box, they just typing on a text layer- then you wouldn't see any of the placeholder text. When you drag a box out, then start typing, that is when you see the place holder text. Please not below: I have the same madeup gobblygook text as you.
I think it's a nice feature: it can really help when creating templates where thext goes into an odd shape.
That blue jay image was taken with a trail cam.
