I have been searching this topic and see that it is occurring in earlier versions as well. I have tried all the fixes that have been suggested but they aren't successful. Hope I am just missing something but does anyone know how to correct this. Thanks
thank you gentlemen for helping me with my issue. I got on a chat with a real person, thanks for the "agent" hint, and I think my problem has been resolved. It seems the issue was when I selected the preference "allow floating documents in the advanced mode" and then tried to resize a layer that is when the thumbnail went blank. The support person opened the Layers Panel Options box and unchecked "entire document" and then checked "layer bounds". I have tried to recreate the issue several t

This seems to be a random problem and I don't recall any solution being provided. I think you are the first to report it with Elements 2025. I suggest you try contacting Elements support. You can start a chat session by going to the Contact Adobe Support page. Make sure you are signed into your Adobe account and try typing Agent when the chat window opens. (If you use my link, the chat window should open automatically.) With your permission, Adobe Support can take charge of your computer remotely and see if they can figure out what happens. Please report back if they find a solution for you.
In the meantime, can you tell us the specs of your computer: CPU, GPU, and RAM. And make sure your graphics card driver is up to date.

One of the issues is probably your integrated graphics: the uhd 730 intergrated graphic
chip can be wonky, it's not the best. It doesn't have any separate memory, it shares the main system memory.
Have you opened the layers panel options and checked that "no thumbnails" is not checked? Click on the kebob (the three dots) just to the right of the trashcan in the layers panel and choose panel options.

yes, I've done that, set it to large thumbnails. I didn't go all out on this computer since it is not my main computer, just wanted one to digitally scrapbook and edit photos. I will check with support on Wedneday since I work tomorrow. Thanks again for your help. I appreciate it.

If you have looked at the other threads on this subject, I think you will find that closing and reopening the psd file will bring back the thumbnails. So, as Glenn says, it seems to be some kind of graphics card issue or a memory leak somewhere.

I have looked at all the threads I could find. (so much so that your avatar looks familiar!) I did close and reopen the psd file and the layer thumbnails come back but it shouldn't do that and it makes using the program too time consuming and frustrating. If I knew a new graphics card would solve the issue I have no problem getting a better one. Can you explain what a "memory leak" is? One thing I do notice is that when I resize a layer the thumbnail goes blank. I didn't get a chance to get ahold of an agent in support and will attempt that this afternoon. Once again, thanks for your response.

RAM is completely cleared anytime you restart your computer. To fix a memory leak all you have to do is restart the computer. That will clear the memory, return it all to Windows, and it can start reallocated it (hopefully correctly) from there. Whatever program caused the memory leak may cause it again in the future.
Sometimes it happens with programs, but not all that much. When you close a program some background stuff gets left running. The next time you go to use the program the program acts "wonky" (That's a technical term).
I have an rtx 3060- with 12 GB of ram-- cost me $300 abotu 10 months ago. More ram on a vido card is always better. My personal preference is to use Nvidia based cards.

Thanks
