trying to open pics from other program into PS elements

When I open a picture file and it says open with  (different program) and I chose PS elements 14, it open the program but it doesn't open the picture in my PS Elements.....it's seem like its trying but NG.....Thanks in advance for the help  Jim

Does the picture file open if you use the menu 'File >> Open" from the editor?

Michael if you mean my PS program, yes it does....but it use to open from that drop down file menu..Thanks
