I have been using Photoshop Elements 5 for many years, and finally decided to "upgrade" to PSE15.
I have spent several hours trying to get PSE15 to recoginse my PSE5 catalog. After some trawling I found the PSA Catalog Converter
which makes a folder containing a catalog.pse13db file and a thumbs.5.cache file. Then I get stuck. PSE15 wont recognise
anything in this folder, either to open or to convert. I tried downloading a trial version of PSE13, but it doesnt recognise these files either.
Can anyone help please?
That is what I had already tried to do. It doesn't work. Neither PSE13 nor PSE15 can find the PSE13 catalog made with the convert program: it doesnt appear in the window from which you are supposed to select a catalog. But I found a workaround. The complete process is as follows:
1. Use the convert program to create the PSE13db catalog (from a PSE5 psa catalog, in my case)
2. Use the restore from backup option in PSE13 using a full backup of the PSE5 catalog; after copying the picture files it wil

Hi Alastair,
Please see - Convert-organizer-catalog-elements-13-64
If you have PSE13 catalog created using Catalog conversion utility, you just need to launch Elements 15 organizer, click File > Manage Catalogs > Convert > Click Find More Catalogs button and locate the folder containing catalog.pse13db file and hit Convert. For example, if your PSE13 catalog resides on path Desktop\ABC\, locate the folder 'ABC' and choose it. You should see the catalog listed there for conversion.
Thanks

3. Copy the output of the convert program (step 1) in to the folder you chose for output of the restore process (step 2).
4 Navigate to that folder and double click on the PSE13db file; this time it will open PSE13 and read in the catalogue.
5. Used the backup category option in PSE13.
6 Open PSE15 and restore from the backup made in step 5. It will convert the PSE13 catalog, and then you are finally home.
Having done all that I find I dont like the PSE15 interface very much, and think I may revert to PSE5!
