USing Camera Raw in PSE12

New Here ,
Aug 16, 2017 Aug 16, 2017

Hi there

I recently reinstalled PSE12 on a new laptop as my old one died.

I have now found that I cannot view any of my raw images, and I have no idea how to install the Camera Raw Plug in to allow me to do so.

I did this on my old laptop years ago, and used Camera Raw with no problems.  But I have given up trying to redo what I did years ago to get Camera Raw to work on my new Windows 10 machine.  And I have given up trying to search for "Installing Camera Raw Plug In PSE12" as all that does is tell me about what Camera Raw does (which I already know!!)

Any help gratefully received, as I am getting pretty frustrated.....

Cheers Alastair

If the problem is with broken thumbnails try this:

Launch Organizer and try selecting the thumbnails (Shift+Click) or (Ctrl+A) to select all, then click on the top menu

Edit >> Update Thumbnail For Selected Items

If that doesn’t work quit Elements and delete the thumbnail cache which sometime becomes corrupted. Navigate to:

C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\MyCatalog

Inside the MyCatalog folder (or whatever name you gave your catalog) you should find a CACHE file:

  1. thumb.5.cache

After deleting that file (see image below) restart the elements Organizer and wait whilst it regenerates thumbnails.

The ProgramData folder is sometimes a system hidden file, in which case launch the run dialog (hold down Windows key and press R) and then type %programdata% and press return. Follow the file path to your named catalog.

My previous reply deleted as it related to Mac OS
