Using Elements Organiser in conjunction with full Photoshop

Hi, I have a large number of photos in Photoshop Elements Organiser, which I like and find useful. But I now wish for various reasons to install the full Photoshop - CS6 and use this for editing the photos within the Organiser instead of the Elementas Editor. Is this possible please?  If so what do I need to do? Thanks. Bob

In the organizer, You can edit in

_ .the Elements editor

_ Photoshop

_ your preferred third party editor.

In Photoshop and external editor, you are working in a copy of the original,

Thanks Michel - That's good news.

I realise that I am working on a copy, but may I ask further please:  When I wish to edit a photo in the Organiser, at present I click on Editor and this brings up the photo in the Elements Editor automatically. So how do I set it up for editing in CS6 please?

From memory as I have no computer available presently:

Right click and select the open with option

or use the edit icon in the bottom button bar

I think there is a shortcut also.

Yes, the Edit icon at the bottom has a little arrow which brings a dropdown menu which I hadn't noticed.

This enables a supplementary editing application - which is just what I want.

You have it solved. I had searched the Internet in vain!

Having overcome the first hurdle, I now have to decide which version of Photoshop to go for and buy.  I have an older iMac computer (mid-2010) with OS X El Capitan (10.11.6). The options seem to be a CS6 outright purchase on Ebay, or the latest monthly subscription version, but both alternatives seem to involve incompatibility problems with my present setup as well as certain risks and considerations of expense. I believe I need the full photoshop rather than the Elements which I already have, in order to make digital negatives for the alternative photographic processes I am about to experiment with (e.g. platinum prints).

Any help in resolving the dilemma will be greatly appreciated.  (Especially from anyone with experience of platinum printing).

Ctrl+H is the Windows keyboard shortcut to send an image/images to Photoshop from the Organizer.  I assume it will work for CS6.

(Ctrl+I is the shortcut to send images to the Elements Editor.)
