What are these?

What are these at the right side of the screen and how do I get rid of them?

Trying to insert a small screen shot here and getting "this type of image is forbidden."

What next?

John

That is the Graphics Panel.

Click Window (from the menu at the top) and uncheck Graphics if you wish to close it.

What is the file type that is giving you that error message?

Since jpgs work for an Insert Image, here are two ways to create a jpg of your screen shot.

1.In PSE take a screenshot (Print Screen key).

File > New from Cipboard.

Save file as a jpg.

2. If you are running Windows, use the Snipping Tool to capture the work area and save as a jpg.

John,

Maybe there is something embedded in the picture that Insert Image doesn't like.  Copyright or something like that?

Anyway, did you try my suggestions?

You can also try uploading your jpg to the free file-sharing site https://www.sendspace.com/

Then post the url of the file in another message.

Mark,

I tried the snipping to to get the relevant part of the screen shot of my PSE screen.

Then I tried to load it and got "That image type is forbidden."

I tried a jpg from Clipboard and got the same result.  Is there some copyright code on

a PSE screen blocking downloading?

John

There shouldn't be.

Try using a png file.

I did a forum search on your error message and apparently many people have had the same problem but no solution.

For example, this from Aug. 20:

... and, the 'insert image' feature here is broken, says 'that image type is forbidden' for png, jpg, and gif.

One suggestion, which I frequently use, is to not use the Insert Image icon. Instead, simply copy the image to the clipboard via Snipping tool or other means, and paste (Ctrl v or Cmd v) into the forum message.
