Where do I put the serial number

Purchased photoshop elements 2023 on Amazon.I  downloaded it. Contained a serial number. what do I do with that? It is not asking for it anywhere.

You should be prompted to enter the serial number once you open the Editor.  If you are merely on the Home Screen or in the Organizer, the serial number is not required.  Also, since you purchased from Amazon, you would probably have been given a redemption key.  See this HelpX Article which explains how to process it.
