I have a jewelry photo and want to put in a white background. I am using Photoshop Elements 20. How can I do that?
Open the Editor, Expert tab
Go to File>New>blank file. In the dialog that opens, enter H&W for the background, resolution 240px/in, Background contents: White. ok it.
Open the file with the jewelry. Use one of the selection tools, e.g. selection brush, lasso tool, to select the jewelry. You will see an outline once the selection is complete.
Go to Editi>copy
Open the white background, then Edit>paste
Activate the move tool and position the jewelry on the background.

One way:
-Open the photo in Photoshop Elements.
-Use a selection tool to select only the jewelry.
-Select > Inverse and click Delete to create transparency.
-Create a new file with a white background.
File > New > Blank file
-Drag the photo to the new file.
You may need to resize the photo or the canvas.

Thanks for your info. However, when the dialog box came open there was no place to enter H&W for the background. There was no cell for "background" When the background showed on the screen it was white but a LONG rectangle which will not accommodate the photo. Any other suggestions or help to resolve this issue?
