I shot photos in JPEG fine + RAW using a Nikon. The resolution of the RAW images that I have edited is 733 for i ages that are something like 4000x 3200 pixels. If I change the resolution to 300, the size of the images changes to something like 1200 x whatever. Can I leave the recolution at abut 733 or can I change it?
Is this high resolution the result of shooting in JPEG fine + RAW?
The resolution is unimportant. Not a guide to quality. Don't set it to 300 blindly, unless you know the final print size. I think you aren't looking at the size in inches/mm at all.

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.

The term resolution can have several meanings when talking about image quality. Take a look at this article which may help explain it to you.
