Will current version of Organiser import catalogs from PSE8 ?

I have new PC with Windows 11 but PSE8 [CD bought version] will not work.  It installs but stops PC booting so have to clean install Windows again. Something to do with CD drivers [Roxio?] not installing I think. Shame as it worked perfectly on Win10.

I don't edit photos it's just the orgainser I use for family photos. I am ok to upgrade [PSE8 is rather old!] but only if I am confident my 4 catalogs will import to the latest version with all the tags etc.

Thanks in advance for any answers !

Yes, your catalogs will be converted to the latest version.  However, you need to use a conversion utility.  See the details in this HelpX article.  I suggest that you download a free 30 day trial of the program to see that everything converts OK for you.  A copy of your old catalog will be saved and can still be used with the older version of the program. (BTW, you can delete the Roxio drivers and Elements 8 shuold still work on Windows 11, but I suggest running it in Compatibility Mode).

And if past history is a guide, it is possible that a new version of the program will be coming out in the next month or so.

Thank You ! I'll download the trial version as you suggest and try the conversion utility out.  I'll post how I get on in case others are in a similar position to me.

Success! Downloaded PSE2023 trial on new PC and catalogs converted and working. Excellent.  Thanks.

For anyone needing to do the same as me, this is how I did it -

Copied each entire catalog folder from old PC with PSE8 on it and placed in Catalog folder of PSE2023. Open via 'manage catalogs' and PSE2023 recognises it but needs converting which it does and then photos open up with tags etc. Sweet! [Storage drives where photos are located were moved to new PC with no change to folder structure/drive letter thus simplifying the process]

My only gripe - no dark mode in PSE2023!

Thanks again Greg for pointing me in the right direction.
