Zoom burst

Hello _ I searched for this and can't find an answer.  When I try this is guided it causes the whole pic to have a zoom burst but then when I select the focus area it goes back to the original.  Have the same happen when trying to add depth of field too.

Can you please share which version of Photoshop Elements you are currently using?

Also the OS on which you have installed Photoshop Elements.
