Backup restore sucks

I am a user of PE from version 4 to version 20

And I am wondering that back up restore suck even in versio 2020.

I'm very disappointed.

Version 4 was issued in October 2005.

It did use a different database engine:  Microsoft Access. Since version 6, all catalogs use Sqlite database engine.

 

In version 13 (September 2014), Elements was changed to a 64 bits application. So, the standard conversion had to be changed, which involved an additional step to convert the old catalot to 64 bits from a small utility before the normal conversion could take place.
