I've been using Photoshop for a while and a few days ago my text looks blocky. The O's look like they were made on minecraft and the others are jagged looking. I've tried on large images and small the result is the same. Everything looks terrible. Any idea what's up?

How would I reset the type tool?
On older versions of the software, there is a little arrow on the Type tool's option bar, top left. Click on this to reset. On the later versions, there is a box with lines in it on the option bar, bottom right.
If resetting the tool does not fix it, suggest that you reset preferences. Go to Edit>Preferences>General and look for this;
By the way, does the distorted text appear this way on screen, or print this way, or both?

Have you reset the Type tool?
What is the resolution of the file to which you are adding the text?
Have you tried another font and what is the font pt. size?

Thanks for your response.
How would I reset the type tool?
It happens on hi and lo res as well as on a new blank file. I even tried typing on old memes I've made where the text is crisp and new type looks awful.
I've tried multiple fonts and sizes. When I first tried Photoshop my text looked like this and I'd use other apps to add text, then out of the blue the text looked good and that lasted about a year, now it's bad again.

The reset preferences option worked. Now I can go back to making crispy looking memes! Thank you for your help. Now i just need to learn how to use the 80% of the controls I don't know how to use. Thanks again.
