Can't find recent iPhone 8 photos to import to Photoshop Elements 11

My PE 11 does not locate photos I took this weekend with iPhone 8 to Import.  The photos are still on my Photo app, but PE 11 doesn't see them.  I had a problemtt last week with my LIVE photos being imported as Movies.  I just got the iPhone 8 and had a 5s previously, so I wasn't even aware of the LIVE feature.  Working with Apple Support, I was able to change the LIVE feature on all of the pictures and re-load them as photos, replacing the photos loaded as Movies previously.

This weekend I took photos and was going to import them from my iPhone, but PE 11 doesn't see them.  I contacted Apple support again, and made a few changes of Settings, but still can't find the photos.  One of the changes I made was to go to Settings > My name > iCloud > and change Photos to OFF instead of the ON.  My photos are on an external hard drive, being backed up by another external HD, so I don't want my photos stored on iCloud.  With Apple Support, I downloaded the photos to my Windows Photos app on my laptop and have PE 11 look for the photos in the C:User/Owner/Pictures file, but PE 11 doesn't find the photos.

Anyone have any clue how I might correct this?

Thanks, Sahil, but that link is about people who are having duplicates downloaded.  My problem is that PE 11 doesn't even recognize the photos that I took this weekend.

I'm not clear how you are attempting to import the photos to the Organizer catalog.

Have you tried the Import>From Files and Folders option?

In the import dialog, are you able to navigate to the folder where the photos are stored?  If so, are you able to select the photos and click either the Get Media or Open buttons?

If you cannot see the files, do they have a jpg extension or are they .heic files?  Elements 11 does not support HEIC files on Windows OS.

Hi - To Import from my iPhone 8 I click on the *Import* and select *From
Camera or Card Reader*, but PE doesn't find the photos. With Apple's help
I imported the photos *From a USB device *to my Windows 10 *Photos *app. I
then tried to Import to PE, selecting *From files and folders.*

Checking the Photos app on Windows, I see that the photos are HEIC
files!!! Is there (1) a way for me to change these photos to another
extension, and (2) is there a way for me to set my iPhone 8 to take photos
with another extension?

The problem I had last week that Apple helped me solve is that I was taking
photos using the LIVE options, causing them to download to PE as *Movies*.
Apple showed me how to edit the photos so that LIVE was not being used and
they showed me how to save my Camera app so that I was not using LIVE.
When I changed all of those photos (118 photos), PE now recognizes them as
photos. So I guess those movies/photos were not HEIC files.

I'm not very computer or PE literate, so appreciate it if you don't get too
technical. 😁

Thanks!
Lou
