Hi, i´ve got trouble with Photoshop Elements 2021 Organizer (Mac) import. When I start the import Dialog, the box "Dateien beim importieren kopieren / copy files when importing" is automaticly activated and the check mark can´t be clear. After import, no pics will be saved on the external HDD. The extern HDD is chosen in the preferences. Please help. 🙂 Thanks an best regards

Hi Axel,

When you click the Import button which option do you choose next? There are three common options:

- From Files and Folders...

- From Camera or Card Reader...

- In Bulk...

(Windows also has From Scanner... and I think older Macs still have the From iPhoto... option).

Hi, „from files and folders“ as well as „in bulk“. Thanks

Phil is right:

The reason you cant't select the option to 'copy'  the files when importing is that when you choose to import from files and folders, the files are already on your computer. Copying is only meaningful if you import from camera or card reader, in which case you can choose to consider the photo card (or USB thumb drive) as the location of the file or you can choose the 'import = downlod' choice which copies the files where you want, either in the default preference location or in a custom location for each 'import'.

I am not sure that using the proper technical words: indexing versus downloading would be better understood by the non technical Elements users.

'Importing' is confusing.

So keep in mind the two different actions:

- indexing (or registering) in the database

- downloading : copying from removable media to the computer drives (external or external).
