Elements Organizer 2019 freezes or crashes when trying to back up the catalog. When preparing, It calculates a media size of 158,670.10 MB (159 GB?, seems high), then appears to start the backup. Full Backup selected, "Please wait while Elements Organizer prepares for backup..." panel appears, but after this point Organizer either freezes or crashes (up to 30 minutes).  Any thoughts?

Hi Jim,

1. Do you have enough space on the drive you're going to store the backup?

2. Do you need to reconnect any missing files?

Reconnect missing files in a catalog

3. Repair and optimize the catalog by going to File > Manage Catalogs. (Choose Repair Anyway even if it says it's OK)

And even if Photoshop Elements Organizer appears to have frozen or crashed, it might be OK - a large backup can take a very long time. Use the Windows 10 Task Manager to see if it's still working away in the background.

Hi Phil;

Thank you for your feedback.
I repaired the catalog and re-indexed the files. Started to back up
again, it was very slow - TaskManager was showing status not responding,
but using 14-15% CPU so I waited, the program started writing the backup to
disk after about 90 minutes. The backup reached about 50%, then displayed
an error while writing a file (599262.json). Backup stopped when I
acknowledged the message. About 3.02 GB was written to the backup file (170
GB available on disc).
I`ll keep working on it, I'd like a catalog backup done before I move
programs to my new computer.
