Freezing software

Every time I upload a photo to work on, the stsem will freeze I then have to close it then it works fine.

What OS and version of Elements are you using?

If you are using the Organizer and have a large catalog, the media analysis (face recognition, smart tags and auto-creations) can take up a lot of resources.  You can try turning the media analysis off in the Organizer's Edit>Preferences>Media Analysis dialog.  Let the media analysis work overnight so that it doesn't interfere with your other use of the program.
