New Here ,
Mar 09, 2015 Mar 09, 2015

I have windows 8 and a new computer.  I am trying to change the size of a graphic, but I want to use pixels.  Can you help me?

Thanks.

Sorry, can please be a little more explicit on what you want to do and where.

There are various places that the size can be specified like Edit -> Preferences -> Units. If you are referring to the ruler in the editor then you can right click on the ruler and select the units you want.

If you are trying to resize your image using Image -> Resize -> Image size you should be able to select pixels there if Resample Image is checked.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. Here is what I am working with (attached). I

cannot get document sizes to change to pixels. PS Element 9 is the

program. I know they change, because my computer broke and this is a new

one. But on the old one someone showed me how to change it and I've tried

to remember what they said, but it's not coming to me. I appreciate any

help you can give me.

Thanks.

Jan

Hi,

Attachments are not allowed in this forum so I can't see what you are working on. If you want to add an image to your reply, you need to use an online browser and then in the reply header, click on the little camera icon. You can then browse to an image on your computer and upload it.

If you are trying resize and image to pixel dimensions, open the image in the editor. From the Image menu, select Resize -> Resize image. You should see a box like this.

ResizeImage.jpg

Make sure that the option "Resample image" is checked. Then in the top part you should be able to select pixels from the drop down list (as in above) and then enter the pixel size you want.

Hope that helps

Brian

Hi,

My image isn't like yours, but the document size as you show it is, but

it doesn't give pixels as an option (and that is where I need to have

pixels). There is something that can be done to change the default, but I

don't know what. I just know I did it on my old comp. Any ideas?

Thank you.

Hi,

Are you referring to the New document dialog?

NewDoc--09.jpg

You can get that when you want to start a new job File -> New -> Blank file

Note that the resolution is the relationship between pixel dimension and unit size.

e.g. 200 pixels at a resolution of 100 pixels/inch is 2 inches

Please see the following to help you show us what you see.

If you use the crop tool, you can enter pixel values in the height and width boxes. Be sure to type px, e.g. width 1024px & height 850px. Enter the desired resolution as well.

Drag out the crop shield and crop.

This tool does re-sample!
