Leere Ordner im Organizer

Hallo,
habe folgendes Problem.

Wolfgang

You can't transfer your catalog and media libraries like this.

The usual safe way is to use the backup and restore process, since what you are doing is exactly 'moving the catalog' to a new computer'.

https://helpx.adobe.com/de/photoshop-elements/kb/backup-restore-move-catalog-photoshop.html

To help you, it's necessary to confirm :

- If the C drive is a SSD drive (just out of curiosity)

- if the D drive was the system drive in the old computer

- if you have used a 'cloning' software to copy the data of the old drive to the E drive.

- were is your catalog (menu Help >> system information).

- if you have a lot of  'missing' or 'disconnected' files when you open your catalog

Hallo,

thank you for the fast answere.

* The C-drive is the SSD-Drive. There are the windows 10 system. Also
the Catalog is on the C-drive.

* The D-Drive is the old drive. There are only the Data. There are all
.jpg Photos on it.

* The E-Drive is the new Drive. There are the same Data like the
D-drive on it.

* The Catalog:
Win10-SSD(C) - ProgrammData - Adobe - Elements Organizer - Catalogs

On the new Drive all Ordner (folder) are available. But without photos. Only
a few photos are available.

The old drive "C" with windows 7 was cloned and the was made a update to
windows 10.

Kind regards

Wolfgang

Wolfgang,

First, if you prefer to use German, no problem for me ; I did not practice German  for 15 years, so I am a bit rusty... and lazy.

It's not a language problem, but I have still other questions to better understand your situation.

- I understand that your old C: drive was cloned to the new SSD before updating the Windows operating system. You kept the softwares, including Elements and the catalog folder in the C: drive. Nothing wrong there, you should be able to use the catalog directly provided the photo files are still on the same D  drive.

- I assume the old D  drive is an internal drive which always contained your image files.

My question about 'cloning' was to know if the disk containing the photo files had been cloned. This tends to happen with the need to switch to SSD for better performance. The old main drive containing the Operating System, the softwares as well as the catalog and media files is re-used  as D  drive or even used externally in a USB enclosure. In that case, the links on the catalog are broken. Those links refer to the drive letter AND the internal serial number of the drive stored by Windows. The cloning sees both the SSD and older drive as the same identification and the organizer is lost and can't manage which is which.

- It does not appear that was the above situation, but did you also clone your D drive to the new bigger E drive? If so, the risk is about the same for confusion in the organizer. If you unmount the E: drive, you should not have this issue. If you have only copied but not cloned the D drive to E, there should be no problem.

Hallo,

thank you for the help.

Also Laufwerksbuchstaben getauscht. Klappt jetzt super.

Beste Grüße

Wolfgang
