Photoshop Elements 2019.

Just wish to clarify that it is worthless and that for Catalina I need to buy something else and pay full price.

As well, are there compatibility issues with 2020.  or 2021 ?

Thank you

Cynthia

You are correct that Elements 2019 will not work with Catalina (or Big Sur).  As an owner of a prior version of Elements, you are entitled to a discount on the price if you buy from Adobe.

Here are the system requirements for Elements 2021.

You don't know that any program is based on another one, the operating System (your Mac OS, Windows, Linux, Android?). You can even have a third level of programs, the plugins...

So, the programs running on Mac don't work on Windows and reciprocally. They need to be completely rewritten to use the different basic 'bricks' offered by the respective OS. Or OS versions...

You are simply observing that Apple has chosen to change their OS radically for the last years, which has the result of making all application programs unusable, not only Adobe, but also all the other editors?

Just compare with Windows. I can still use PSE6 on Windows 10.

This is Apple's plan, to drive new software onto new systems, and generate sales, and make profits for Apple. It's part of the Joy of Mac, and you'd better get used to it, the next few years will be a wild ride. Or, subscribe to Photoshop, which includes updates, for $120 per year or so.
