I have backed up the catalog on a fast removable hard drive.  Set up new PC, moved all files including pictures to the new PC.  Obviously all drive letters are different for drives.  I see the restore command and know how to use it, but am uncertain as to where to put it and if it has the pictures in it as well when I did the backup?   If so, I guess I have the pictures in the transfered drive and also in the backup.    Help....  I just want to transfer to my new PC and am confused as to what the restore will do, where I should put the stuff, and if I place it where the disk transferred pictures are, will I end up with a duplicated mess.

Delete all the copies you have done.

Use the above backup and restore procedure, you won't have any duplicate.
