Photoshop Elements 2018

I have sent this quetsion before, but no help so far:

When I try to import pictures from my PC (Card Reader), i get the following refusal: "Cannot load plugin-modules needed to collect medias from unit(s)".

This is extremely irritating, as I do not have any plugins outside Adobe PSE. I can manage using not-adobe solutions, but it is very time consuming. I have the absolute latest version of Windows 10.

Pls clarify

Regards

Do you mean you can download from the same card reader and cards from the Windows Explorer or not-Adobe solutions?

There has been many reports for issues with Windows 10 and card readers:

https://www.thewindowsclub.com/sd-card-readed-not-working-windows

Also, a Google search for the text of the error message brings solutions like:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-hardware/description-failed-to-load-...

You have not received solutions in your previous posts, so it is not likely that the error message comes from the Adobe software.

Can you try another card reader? There are small and handy ones from 6 EUR.

This did not help at all, except that I received a solution to buy a
software I do not know anything about.

This has nothing to do with the card reader. I normally use USB connection
to my Lenovo stationary PC, and before Adobe 2018 I never had any problems,
but now I get the same answer for USB cable solution, as for the card reader

Warning, scammers may contact you privately pretending to be Adobe staff. Adobe will never send you a private message asking you to email an account that isn't @adobe.com, or use Skype. Adobe never ask you for their password. These scammers want your Adobe info, credit cards, your money and control of your computer, please take care.

Jan, are you able to drag the files on your card onto your Lenova desktop?  What format are the files in (jpg, png, NEF, etc)?

Thanks for trying to help. I can manage to get my files to Adobe outside
Adobe, but my concern is why I get this stupid message from Adobe re
Plug-ins, which have been working nicely for 15 years…

My files are RAW format!

Are your images from the exact same camera used previously?  If so, I'd try the Restore Default Settings button in Organizers Edit > Preferences > General menu (where it is in PSE 19).  If it's a newer camera, and I'm not sure about this, perhaps Organizer is trying to associate them with a RAW plug-in not available in PSE 15?   More info here

Thanks Phinny

I have tried to restore Preferences as suggested, but it did not help.

I have several cameras (all Sony), amongst one is pretty ; new Alfa 77II.

What I do is to transfer/copy my files via USB connection to my PC’s hard
disk where all my pictures are stored, and from there I import the pictures
directly into Adobe Organizer without any problems, it is just irritating
that Adobe stops me completely when I try the ordinary way without storing
in advance..

Kind regards

I have found a very similar issue in the feedback forum:

https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/adobe-photo-downloader

If it's really the same problem, I strongly advise to post in that feedback forum to tell that the issue seems to be still present in your PSE2020 version. State if your OS language is English or not.

LATEST
Thanks again

I have the 2018 edition of Adobes PSE, so I do not know if the 2020 edition
has sorted out this problem, but I must admit that it is rather shocking
that Adobe has not sorted this out long time ago. That I should go back to
2014 edition to get 2018 to work is stupid to me; but thanks to you for
helping me: I believe I continue to load my pictures to my hard disk, and
then use PSE import from files.. My OS is in Norwegian

Kind regards
