Photoshop Elements 2019 suddenly will not open anything - all files are grayed out

After using Elements 2019 for months, suddenly I cannot open any photo files.  I am using the Expert mode, but this doesn't seem to matter.  Elements boots, but is completely worthless.

Hi Stan,

Sorry to hear that Photoshop Elements 2019 is not opening anything, let's make this right.

Could you please let us know the operating system you're working with?

Could you please try resetting the preferences of Photoshop Elements and let us know if it helps? https://helpx.adobe.com/in/photoshop-elements/kb/preference-file-locations-photoshop-elements.html

Thanks so much Sahil. I am running Mac OS 10.14.6.

And resetting the Photoshop Elements preferences did the trick.
