Photoshop Elements 9- Blending Mode Glitch (Cycles through modes on its own)

I am experiencing an issue when trying to select a BLENDING MODE.  No matter what mode I select, it randomly cycles through every mode by itself until it reaches the bottom mode- LUMINOSITY.  There is no way for me to stop it once it cycles and I cannot make it stop on the mode I want.

I have tried creating different files.  I have shut down and rebooted the computer with no change.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

Suggest that you reset preferences.

Press CRL+SHIFT+ALT before you launch the program, and keep holding down those keys as you start the Editor until you see a widow asking if you want to delete Elements settings. Click Yes.

If you don't see the window, quit Editor and try again.
