Please help with this situation.

I have a pc running windows. I use Photoshop Elements 2020. When I try to import from my printer/scanner the printer does not show up as a divice I can choose. I have a new Epson 7840 all in one printer. I have talked with Epson and they say this is an Adobe problem. How can I get my Photoshop Elements to recognize my Epson printer so I can import from the scanner?

Try resetting the preferences file. Go to Edit>Preferences>General tab and click the Reset Preferences on next launch button.   If that doesn't fix the problem reinstall your printer's driver.

I had the same problem.  Being a retired IT Specialist, I searched for the answer for myself and it indeed worked.  I have an EPSON ET-15000/  In the Windows 10 OS I'm running it showed up as a default printer as well as a scanner.  However I couldn't import a scan with WIA.  The solution was to go into the scanner and add a scanner, Windows searches and displayed my printer with a different name.  I let it install the printer and it worked in import WIA.  Microsoft in their security for both Windows 10 and 11 require you to install their drivers for the All-In-One printers which is what I have.  So my recommendation is to go into Windows setting add the printer not showing up in ADOBE software and install it through Windows with Microsoft Drivers.   Mary T.
