PS Elements 9: Could not complete your request because of a program error

New Here ,
Dec 30, 2016 Dec 30, 2016

Hi, I'm on Photoshop Elements 9 and have started getting the error message "Could not complete your request because of a program error". After this appearing I can move text layers and save the project, but I cannot change font size.

Error log reads: 2016:12:12 11:40:59 : /Volumes/Partition2/pse8.0/elements/main/build/photoshop/xcode/../le/sources/ExifSupport.cpp : 3020 : REQUIRE failed

I have tried resetting preferences but this doesn't fix it.

I'm on a Mac running Sierra, 10.12.2

Any suggestions on how I fix this?

cheers

Lucas

Hi,

At what step you are getting the error ?

Can you please try after deleting the font cache. For this :

  1. Quit Photoshop Elements.
  2. Navigate to /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/9.0.
  3. Drag the CT Font Cache folder to Trash
  4. Empty the Trash folder.
  5. Restart Photoshop Elements and use the Text tool to determine if the problem recurs.

Please let us know if this work for you or not.

Thanks,

Rupali

Hi Rupali

Thanks for your response.

When starting a blank document, the error message occurs as soon as I open the text tool. I can have worked on the document for quite a while doing other things before that without the error occurring.

When opening a file that has already been worked on and already has a text layer in it, the error message comes up either immediately upon opening or within 30 seconds or so. In these cases it comes up even if I am not currently trying to use the text tool.

I tried to follow your suggested instructions but there did not seem to be a CT Font Cache folder at all in the filepath location you specified. A Finder search shows no folder by that name anywhere on my computer.

Also, FYI, I don't know if it's relevant but my filepaths aren't quite the same as the one you specified above. I have two:

1. Macintosh HD/Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe Photoshop Elements 9
(this final folder only contains a Presets folder)

2. Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/9.0.

As stated above, this latter path doesn't contain a CT Font Cache folder either, or any folder with a similar name.

Hope you can help.

Hi,

It seems some of your fonts got corrupted. The best solution is to reinstall Photoshop elements.

Please let us know if you faces any issue.

Thanks,
