slideshow displays black screen. when stopped pictures show

Hi.. just got photoshop elements 2020. In creating a slideshow, the preview screen is "black". Music plays while screen is black. When stopped, pictures in slide show appear???

In Edit>Preferences>General (Ctrl+K) try enabling Use Graphics Processor for Video Playback.  (Or if it is already enabled, uncheck it).  If that doesn't work, do you have two graphics cards on your machine - the integrated graphics from an Intel CPU and a separate GPU.  If so, you should disable one of them.  Try the integrated graphics first.
