Slow first deletion

I try to delete a single file, immediately after start-up of PSE-Organizer. This takes an extremely long time, 3 to 4 minutes. If I, subsequently, delete another file, this is performed rapidly (seconds). Any suggestion to improve this "first deletion"? Help would be appreciated.

Are you using W10 v1809?

Which version of PSE are you running?

What is your system memory (RAM)?

Iā€™m not seeing the problem personally. You could try optimizing the catalog from the Organizer menu:

File >> Manage Catalogs

Choose your catalog from the list [current] and click the Optimize button.

Choose the current catalog again and click the Repair button. If you see a message indicating nothing to repair, click repair anyway.

Let us know if that makes any difference

One other option is to re-create the prefs. Quit Organizer and navigate to:

C:\Users\99jon\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Elements Organizer\18.0\Organizer

[substitute your own user name for 99jon or bring up the run dialog to quickly get to Roaming and follow the file path from there. Start by pressing the Windows key+R and type %appdata% and hit return]

Inside the Organizer folder delete the two files psa and status

Re-launch Organizer and the pref and dat files will get re-built automatically.

Catalog optimization produced an error message: "An error occurred while optimizing the catalog".

I then performed a catalog Repair ("No errors were found") and a subsequent "Repair anyway" with re-indexation.
