Unable to stack photos

I have just installed Photoshop 2020 shortly followed by the latest update. I used to be able to stack photos by selecting the photos i wanted to stack and right clicking to get options. Now this causes the programme to crash. Any ideas? This is not about focus stacking... just putting different versions of the same picture together.

Hello, is it photoshop or elements?

Try resetting the preferences by holding CTRL+ALT+Shift as soon as you click on the Photoshop icon to start it...
