What to Do with Timelapse Photos - Separate Catalog? Hide Photos?

I have one catalog that has accumulated many photos over the years. Recently added photos from two game cameras that took several timelapse shots each day for about two years, so thousands of photos. I want to keep these photos (and have them tagged and in albums), but they are "in the way" in Elements Organizer when looking for  regular photos, like of the family. Best practice? Finally use a separate catalog? Hide them from view in Organizer somehow? Thanks for any advice.

There are several things you could do without creating a new catalog.  Your best bet would probably be to add them all to a single stack, or perhaps multiple stacks based on date.  Another method would be to select them all and hide them, using the right-click context menu for Visibility>Mark as Hidden.

You can still filter by keyword for a stack.  But you will have to unhide the files in order to filter via Album or keyword tag.
