Editing from iPhone Photos app does not save

I do this so often looking for a way to edit and to save over original.

Method 1

Open photos app on iPhone

Click Edit top right

Click on 3 dots choose PS Express

Make my edits in PS Express

Done (there is no option to save)

returns me  to photos

the image is not saved over

Method 2

Open image in PS Express

make Edits

I can save, but not over the original

I would prefer to use photos app, as 90% of images I can correct there. If I need clarity, dehaze or HDR if use PS Express. While is no problem to delete the previous version, it just makes clutter, and changes the order of my photos.

Another way that would; be good is for Photos to use PS Express by default.

Wanted to update my post that after some time this is now working! Maybe quitting and restarting the Photos app worked.

Hi Mike,

Welcome to our Community forum. Could you please let us know if you want to save the edited image and also keep the original photo or just keep the edited image? Also what happens when you use method 1 to save the image, do you encounter any errors, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Photoshop Express application?

We are here to help you, we just need little more information to investigate.

We hope to hear from you soon.

Regards,

Neelam

I want to save over the original. Do not need 2 copies, am confident of my color changes.

On Method 1 nothing happens. I click done in PS Express and it takes me back to photos with no edits to the image.

After reinstalling nothing happens. Had to reinstall twice as ran into bugs with my phone not handshaking with my Adobe account email address, just to get the app to boot.

I still have the same problem after closing all apps and restarting phone. Used to be able to easily tap 3 dots on any photo in photo stream and then edit with PS Express and then when I hit done it would save the original with edits. Now when I hit done it does not save edits. Do not want to open PSE separately as it won't allow saving the original with edits but forces saving a brand new image which is a huge frustration as photos are no longer in the order I took them and want to keep them.

Also Snapseed stand alone app allows you to save the original with the edits. Why doesn't PSE allow this? It's a game changer!

Snapseed offers these amazing export or save a copy or save over original options. Why doesn't PS Express do likewise? 🙏🏼

Hi @pumpernick ,

We are sorry for your difficulties. Please help us to know the device OS details and the Photoshop Express application. I assume that the pictures after editing, get saved in a different location. Please check the "Save Location" details in the application>> Preferences>> Save Location. Please share the save location details to know if it is set up correctly. Also, try reinstalling the application after you save your work to see if this helps.

We are here to help you. It's just we need more details to investigate.

Thank you,

Neelam

I am on iOS running 16.6.1

the issue is that PS E always used to offer the ability to tap edit from within Photos app, then edit using PSE and then SAVE right back to the photo stream. Not open the PSE app separately and save a new separate photo. There is no such place as you've described above in the IOs Preferences for PSE. The feature simply stopped working like it always has for YEARS. Which is edit from within Photos App / Save. End of story. It just saves right over the original photo in the photo stream. That is the functionality I love. I offered screenshots above as well to how Snapseed nails this process. Please reference those because I think PS E should be at the top of the game and at least match if not exceed those functionalities offered by other apps. PS E is the only app that is no longer offering saving changed/edits from right within the Photos app.
