like it can be in photoshop? So one would be able to scale/move the mask but not the content or the other way around?

ok, I just noticed the mask-linking icon: all is good in the world.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. It's a little "hidden" but once you know where it's at it's easy enough to get to again. Unrelated, have you played with the modifier "button" yet?
