Paste a layer from illustrator into photoshop

I'd like to copy a layer in Illustrator and paste it into Photoshop (iPad). When I paste in Photoshop it pastes a recently copied layer in photoshop, it doesn't paste the item saved to the clipboard...

Help?

I believe that Photoshop for Mobile doesn't play well with the iOS system clipboard yet.
