Adobe staff could not fix this problem.  But this is indeed a good workaround to the problem.

A revision to IOS caused the problem.   Adobe did not release a new version of Photoshop Mix to counter that problem.

If your transparent PNGs show up in Photoshop Mix with White where it's supposed to be transparent, then you have to store your PNGs in another place, and not use them directly from Camera Roll.   They will come in from Camera Roll as a JPG, not as a transparent PNG.

Save your transparent PNGs to an Adobe Library.   You can do that either from Photoshop, or from the iPhone Creative Cloud app.   You can then import your transparent PNG into Photoshop Mix, from your Adobe Library.   This works totally.

Yes, Adobe should release a Photoshop Mix update to remedy this problem.    At the same time, this Photoshop Mix update should support the iPhone "Files" app.   Come on, Adobe, it's been two years !!!
