After a few minutes, can't use any tool, just select them

Just using the brush, space to move and some ctrl+z, and photoshop stopped working. I can select the tools, but nothing more. As you can see, at the moment this happens, the right movement bar centered, and the above one disappears, if this gives you some clue of what happened.

What have you done for trouble-shooting so far? 

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:
