All adjustments not working

I been having an issue with my adjustments for a while. I'm using photoshop 2020. When I select an adjustment from the icon at the bottom of layers, it adds the layer but the adjustment does not appear to be edited. When I select "window" to assure that adjustments is selected, all that opens is another short-cut to the adjustments, but not as adjustment window to actually make edits. When I go to "layer" in the top menu and select "adjustment layer" I have the same issue. The only way for me to get an adjustment layer that I can actually edit is through "image" and "adjustments" but this merges it onto the same layer and does not allow me to use a layer mask. What is happening? How can I get my adjustment layers to open so that I can make edits? Thanks so much for your help.

Have you got the "properties" window open (Window - Properties) ? Adjustment layers are adjusted in properties.

Hey Dave,

Thanks so much for the response. I'm not sure why I didn't realize that, after all the years I have been using photoshop. Thanks again for the help, yes, this was my issue.
