Always Set Vector Shape Tool to Foreground Color

When starting up Photoshop CC 2020 and selecting any vector tool, the vector tool's fill color (image #1) is always set to the current foreground color (image #2). Meaning that when changing the foreground color, the fill color changes in conjunction. However, when going into the tool options bar (image #1) and manually changing the fill color, the link between the current foreground color and the tool's fill color is broken. Meaning that now, when the foreground color is changed the vector tool's fill color no longer updates accordingly. The only way to relink the two seems to be to reopen the document.

Is there any way to change this behaviour, i.e. to relink the selected foreground color to the tool's fill color? Is there maybe a possibility to create a color swatch that is always set to the foreground color and then selecting this swatch as the fill?

Thanks a lot!

One way is to Right Click on the tool Preset pull down icon in the tools option bar and then click Reset Tool or Reset All Tools.

The Vector tools should be set to the setting you last used the tool with.  May not even be shape could be Path or Pixels in which cast there is not Fill option in the tool option bar. Try resetting your Photoshop tools something is wrong on your machine.

Hey JJMack,

changing the draw mode to pixels, drawing a shape, then switching back to shape mode works to reset the tool! It's still a workaround but a much better one than restarting the application.

Thanks for your help and all the best

How would you havew two shapes of different colors, if they were both linked to the forground color?

I had assumed the OP meant the color used when creating a new Shape, but I might have misunderstood the point.
