Auto Curves Problem

Auto Curves help needed. After downloading the latest version of photoshop I am using auto curves and works as it did in the prior version i.e. preview looks good but when I select ok the effect seems to be multiplied e.g. in most instances a lot lighter but in some lot darker. Can anyone assist please?

Using the ALT key on the bottom sliders on the Curves dialog does not show clipping either - may be related.

If you could upload a screenshot of your workspace window with the image you are working and the Curves panel visible, it would help us better to give you some feedback.
