Background overlap question

For this edit I used a picture of myself which is apart of the background with a cool little portal. I was wondering if it was possible to make myself look like I am going through the portal I was thinking about isloating myself from the background and making myself somewhat of an edibale object but if anyone knows the best way it would sure be a great help!

As Lambiloon mentioned, there are a lot of tutorials on masking, which you will need to do for this image. Some of it can be done with blend modes like screen or lighten to have the portal show over you. The part of the portal that goes behind you will have to be masked out.
