[UPDATE July 2018]
My friends,
It's been a while, hasn't it?! Well, all that time was well spent as this is, without a doubt, the biggest update in BrushBox's history. It looks mostly the same from the outside, but under the hood we've made a LOT of improvements! Here's the list:
Improved
Fixed
Summer Sale
Since it's been so long since the last update, we're doing a 20% off sale from July 23 to July 30 to bring in more people to the BrushBox family and help keep the project alive and kicking. If BrushBox has been useful to you, and you would like to help spread the word by retweeting the sale announcement (link below), it would mean the world to me ❤️
A huge thank you to the beta testers for this release. You helped me so much and this update wouldn't have been possible without you.
And a shoutout to the creators of the infamous plugins Lazy Nezumi Pro (input smoothing) and Coolorus (color wheel) for their guidance and mentorship. Please support these friendly, talented developers who do amazing things for the art community at a pace that Adobe simply can't keep up with!
What's Next
I'm hard at work on the next BrushBox update (hoping to do much more frequent, smaller updates now), and... a new plugin! This plugin will be especially useful for those of you doing web/graphic design, illustrated books, print, and other things. Can you guess what it is?
Announcement on the new plugin coming soon. Built on top of the BrushBox engine which means you can expect the same level of polish, usability, and masterful design* that you've enjoyed thus far.
Thank you everyone. Keep making amazing art!
*lol, I'm no master but I try!

Thank you very much, Ged
I ran the file through the detector and there was indeed a virus. I've I sent them an email

The BrushBox installer does NOT contain a virus.
Avast (and a few other AV programs) occasionally flags it as a false positive due to anti-piracy measures I use. I need to email Avast asking them to reexamine the file and whitelist it.

Hi Derrick,
Saw your reply regarding the AV false positive. Just wanted to let you know that Bitdefender is also flagging the .exe.
I shot you and email regarding this on July 3 but did some searching and discovered your response here so no need to reply to that email now
Cheers,
Simon

Sorry, me again Derrick.
I just tried installing and Bitdefender will not permit the .exe to be run as it detects the false positive as a virus and quarantines the files. I could disable my AV but was wondering if there's any other way as I don't like doing this. I also would like confirmation again that there is no virus as Bitdefender is reporting Trojan.GenericKD.30855371. Although you mentioned above that there isn't a virus, I'm sure you can understand I can't afford to assume it'll all be ok without direct confirmation from the developer on the actual report I am receiving from my AV. Also thought the actual name of what my AV is reporting may help you whitelist it with Bitdefender.
Thanks!

1bdesign I completely understand and believe me, the situation is frustrating for me as well. Several plugin authors have experienced their plugins being flagged as false positives recently. I have to contact each AV company individually to have them examine BrushBox more carefully and have it added to their whitelist.
I of course stand by my claim that my software doesn't contain any malware, but what might make you feel better is that a new update (2.3) is coming out within a day or two and the new exe is no longer being flagged by Bitdefender according to VirusTotal.
So if you can hang in there this week you'll get the update and it should alleviate your concerns! Thank you so much for your patience.

Hi Derrick,
Thanks heaps for the update. I installed the current version by disabling my AV but the when I started the AV again it flagged the plugin and deactivated it. Great news about the new version. No stress at all to wait until that is released next week. Can't wait to use it
Cheers!

1bdesign No problem! Sorry for the wait, was waiting for feedback from some testers before putting up the new version. Thank you for your support!
By the way to anyone else reading, version 2.3 is up on Gumroad. This is a huge update, but one important change is that it plays nicely with anti-virus software.

I love BrushBox!
I agree with other comments about the Gum Road interface after making a purchase. Finding my download file was the most difficult part of the entire installation experience.
I documented this and much more in my BrushBox plugin review on Plugin Swirl .
