Can I disable the "Return" key function that activates the input fields in the top row UI?

I habitually use the Return key to end a transformation while using the Move tool (V). This is necessary when scaling, rotating, skewing, etc., and not doing so will prevent any other tools from being used. Hitting Escape during a transform will actually undo the entire sequence, so I always hit Return when I'm done.

Unfortunately, moving a selection doesn't require the Return key, so when I press Return to end my action, it instead jumps the focus to the first input field on the top row settings (for the current tool). This is almost always Feather, as that's the first field for the selection tool.

This happens with extraordinary regularity, and each time I spend a few moments wondering why I can't use the tool I switched to, and when I finally realize it's typing my shortcuts into the input field, I hit Return again to return to normal, only to have the frustrating error message let me know that "bbbeerrrrbbbbmm" is not a valid feather value.

I have never once used this feather input field. I have never once used Return to focus on an input field. Is there any way I can completely disable this from happening?
